The Breda Fishings are a perfect mix of shallow streamy water and deep holding pools which hold salmon for much of the year. There are 20 named pools. Famous not just for its salmon and sea trout fishing, the Don boasts some of Scotland's finest wild brown trout fishing. The river which is of modest width (circa 25m wide) is easily fished by wading or off the bank in high water.
The 2.5 mile single bank fishings can be sold as a whole or as two individual beats, each with 10 named pools, easy pedestrian access along a wide bank and good 4x4 vehicular access. Towards the top of the Upper beat, the river runs along a steep wooded hillside which unfolds downstream on to verdant farmland.
Fishing records of the 1990s reflect a period during which the Breda beats were regularly fished. Catches of 100 salmon in a season appear in the record books. This equates to 5% of the total catches for the whole River Don catchment. The Breda beats would be a thoroughly rewarding sporting experience for the discerning angler.
The salmon season runs from 11 February to 31 October and trout from 15 March to 01 September.
